Sonos Buddy — Privacy policy
Last updated 6 October 2026
Sonos Buddy controls your Sonos speakers using your existing Sonos account and its connected services. The native app has no advertising, analytics SDKs or tracking. AE STUDIO SPACE does not operate a server that stores your Sonos account or playback data.
Sonos account and playback
Signing in sends authentication information directly to Sonos. Access and refresh tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Room names, favorites and playback information are obtained from Sonos to display and control your system. The offline preview sends no speaker commands.
Apple Music
Your Library requests optional Apple Music access through MusicKit to browse and search your collection. Library and catalog requests go directly to Apple. Links between Apple Music items and matching Sonos favorites are stored locally for each household. Sonos Buddy does not upload your library or these links to AE STUDIO SPACE. Catalog-backed library items use Apple catalog identifiers for direct playback. Commands go to your selected Sonos speaker over the local network, using the Apple Music account already connected to Sonos. Saved favorites use the Sonos service. Sonos controller playback stays on your speakers. The iOS song player can separately play included or generated audio on the device, or through the system output picker to an AirPlay-compatible speaker. You can revoke Apple Music access in system settings.
Artwork and lyrics
Track titles and artist names may be sent to Apple's public iTunes catalog and LRCLIB to find artwork and lyrics. These services receive network requests, including your IP address, and apply their own privacy practices. On iOS, tap the artwork to show or hide lyrics. The full-screen Sonos visualizer also sends the current track title, artist and duration to LRCLIB to find matching timed lyrics; it does not upload the Sonos audio stream.

Preferences and desktop widgets
Lyrics visibility, controller view and pinned favorite identifiers are stored locally. The Mac app and its widget share the last room, track, artist, playback state and pinned favorite names in a private app group on your Mac. The widget does not receive Sonos sign-in tokens.
Recommendations
Recommendations use Apple's on-device Foundation Models on supported devices when available, with local fallback suggestions. Sonos recommendations do not require microphone, speech recognition, contacts, photos, location, calendar or health access. Optional lyric practice and on-device transcription in the iOS song tools may request microphone or speech recognition permission when used.
Local network permission
Bass adjustment uses a direct connection to speakers on the same Wi-Fi and may request local network permission. Sonos cloud playback itself does not use local speaker discovery.
Optional iOS accounts and song creation
On iOS 26 or later, song creation and credit purchases use an optional account. Sign in with Apple sends an identity token to our RubricMark authentication service and Firebase to verify your account. Firebase stores an account identifier and the email address you choose to share, including an Apple private relay address. Authentication credentials are stored in the device Keychain. Included songs and the offline controller preview can be used without this account.
Song generation sends your lyrics, style, duration and account identifier to the dedicated Sonos Buddy service operated by AE STUDIO SPACE on Google Cloud. Google Vertex AI processes the content to generate audio. The service temporarily stores lyrics and audio for delivery to the app. Pending transfers expire after seven days; successfully received inbox items are removed after the app confirms that the library and audio have been saved. Saved songs remain on your device and may sync through your private iCloud storage when available.
Credits and purchases
Apple handles payment. We do not receive your payment-card details. To verify and deliver consumable credits, the service keeps Apple transaction identifiers, product and purchase status, an account-linked purchase token and your credit balance. These records prevent duplicate crediting and support recovery of unfinished purchases. Credit and purchase records are retained separately from the temporary song inbox.
Lyric study and service operation
Lyric readings, rhythm scores and audio analysis run on the device. If you choose account-based vocabulary sync, flashcards and study progress are sent to your shared RubricMark account. Our cloud providers process request metadata and diagnostic logs, including IP addresses, request times and errors, to operate and secure the service. We do not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Your choices
Sign out from the app menu to remove the app's stored Sonos tokens. You may also revoke connected-app access through Sonos, and manage local network permission in system settings. In the iOS song browser, open Account to sign out or request deletion of the shared account and associated server data. Deleting that shared account also affects other RubricMark apps using it. Device/iCloud copies and Apple transaction records may require separate removal through the relevant system controls. Removing the app removes its sandbox data; the operating system may retain Keychain items and shared widget preferences separately.
This website
The browser demo uses sample content and does not sign in to Sonos, access your Apple Music library or connect to speakers. General AE STUDIO SPACE website practices are described in the website privacy policy.
